  • What is adipate used for?
  • It is the most important in the adipate group, it offers a high efficiency, better flexibility properties at low temperatures and resistance to the loss of color by exposure to heat and ultraviolet light. It is used in PVC applications offering better properties at low temperatures compared to phthalates.
  • What is adipate PVC gel made of?
  • The adipate PVC gel was prepared from commercial PVC powder (Mw 275,000; Scientific Polymer Products, Inc., USA), with tetrahydrofuran (THF 99.5 %; DAEJUNG, Korea) as the solvent and DMA, DEA, DBA, DOA, and DDA (TCI, Japan) as plasticizers. 2.2. Fabrication of adipate PVC gel
  • What are adipate plasticizers?
  • Adipate plasticizers contain two carbonyl groups (C O) in a linear configuration at the center and alkyl chains (R) on both sides. In this study, we used five adipate plasticizers with different numbers of carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, including DMA, DEA, DBA, DOA, and DDA, to synthesize adipate PVC gel ( Fig. S1 ).
  • Why do adipate PVC gels have a low electrical resistivity?
  • Because the plasticizer acts as a charge carrier in the PVC gel, the electrical resistivity of the gel decreases as its content increases and its molecular weight decreases ( Fig. 3 b). We also measured the charge dissipation density of adipate PVC gels arranged according to their electrical resistivities ( Figs. 3 c and S11 ).
  • Do adipate PVC gels lose weight?
  • Each adipate PVC gel was immersed in water for 10 days, and the resulting change in plasticizer weight was measured. DMA and DEA gels exhibited weight losses of approximately 81 % and 36 %, respectively. In contrast, the DOA gel remained stable without significant changes in plasticizer weight and output performance.
  • How are triboelectric series positions of adipate PVC gels confirmed?
  • The triboelectric series positions of the adipate PVC gels were confirmed by measuring the TENG output voltage direction with various dielectric materials, such as nylon, polyimide (PI), and perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), as shown in Fig. 2 d and Fig. S8.
